To keep your breath fresh and teeth clean, brushing your teeth is the best thing to do. Most of us brush our teeth 3 times a day every after meal or others more than that.

But do you know how long you should brush your teeth to make sure they are clean? On the other hand, there are certain fruits and vegetables that would help keep your teeth clean too.
10 Effective Ways on Brushing Teeth Properly

1. Brush your Teeth 30 minutes After Meal
Never brush your teeth right after your meal. When you eat the pH-level in your mouth is lower than normal in short, it is more acidic. When this happens, brushing your teeth is harmful and damaging.

2. Don’t Brush your Teeth in the Same Place
According to the dentists, most of us always start brushing our teeth in the same place, which is a wrong practice. Dentists explained this kind of habit enable us to clean the other parts because of being tired or bored to brush those parts. The consumer adviser for the American Dental Association, Richard Price recommends start brushing in a different place to make sure all teeth receive the same amount of attention.

3. Brush your Teeth Gently
Don’t be harsh in brushing your teeth. Make sure your brushing styles are not damaging in your teeth. If you are harsh in brushing your teeth it could damage your teeth and gums. It is better to brush your teeth in circular motion instead in long strokes.

Periodontist Dr. David Genet recommends brushing your teeth in a gentle way like you are cleaning a priceless furniture. To check if you are brushing your teeth in a gentle way, check the bristles if they bend on your teeth. If they do, it means you are too harsh in brushing your teeth.

4. Teeth Should be Brushed for at least Two Minutes
Most of us know that we should brush our teeth for at least two minutes and that is being recommended. However, most people still don’t follow this recommendation. There are ways to make sure you are brushing your teeth for that long.

First, turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Why? Simply because when the water is on you will likely brush your teeth as fast as you could, knowing you are wasting the water, leaving your teeth unclean. You may also play music while brushing your teeth, in this case, you know how much time you’ve done in brushing.

5. Make sure to Clean your Molars and the Inner Side of your Teeth
Most people brush their front teeth more than the rest. However, all teeth should receive an equal attention. Yet, you should pay more extra attention to your molars and the inner side of your teeth, as these are the parts your tongue is most often pressed against.

6. Use the Right kind of Toothbrush
Always use the right kind of toothbrush. Most people use toothbrush which is too big or small for the size of their mouth thus, it couldn’t reach some parts of their mouth. Never use toothbrush which has too stiff bristles, it could damage your gums. The American Dental Association recommends a soft kind of brush.
