The pods however, are rich in vitamin C. For example, 100 grams of fresh sliced pods contains 157% of vitamin C. However, there is one disadvantage of Moringa oleifera. It may contain high levels of antinutrients, which can reduce the absorption of minerals and protein.

In the study of human, 30 women were given 7 grams of Moringa leaf powder every day for three months. It reduced blood sugar levels by 13.5%. Another study was conducted, there were 6 diabetic patients who have lowered their blood sugar by 21% by adding 50 grams of Moringa leaves to their meal. Thanks to isothiocyanates a plant compounds found in Moringa leaves.
